In Memory of Easter Lily

Butch and Jani Wilson's precious Lily has gone to Rainbow Bridge, after a rich life of fun and love for almost 18 years. Here are some of their memories of Lily.

Easter Lily ”She’s a Dilly”

Jan. 3, 1992 - Sept. 2, 2009

Lily was our “vintage Cairn” and passionate about guarding her family and territory. Lily was a dedicated huntress too and she had an unmatched work ethic. Lily never clocked out! We will miss your leg kisses and your “little sergeant” demeanor. It warmed our hearts; and kept us in line at the same time!

We love you Lily and are grateful for your unconditional love and so much fun for almost 18 years!

Your family ~ Butch, Jani & Riley

Photos of Montgomery Show Winners

Thanks to Suzee Bidegain for sending along photos of the big win by Walker, taking Best of Breed on Sunday, Oct. 4, at the 2009 Montgomery County All Terrier Show, the nation's largest terrier dog show.

Judge Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine, shown holding the winner's ribbons and plate, picked Suzee's Champion Zalazar Walk the Line best of breed.

Also shown in the photo holding the winner's trophies is our own Jack Smith, president of the Cairn Terrier Club of Southern California.

A second photo shows Suzee and Walker in the show ring.

Thanks also to CTCSC members Lisa and Dave Tuttle for sending along shots of Auggie's big win.

Champion Cobblestone Consigliere Di Capo won Best Stud Dog and an Award of Merit.

The CTCSC is proud of our winners.

Thanks for taking time to share.

Two Special Cairns: Angus and Broady

In September Tom and Mimi Hilberg of San Diego lost a very special friend. Angus was a Cairn terrier they had acquired from Karen Smith in 1993. He lived to be 17 1/2 years old, and as you can see from the video above, he was still active in his later years.

Here is how they describe this very special Cairn:

"Angus had so much character and humor stuffed into such a small body! He had been our companion on numerous long trips in the USA, Canada and Alaska. He's been a smart, funny presence who endeared us to him in many ways.''

After their loss, Tom and Mimi contacted the CTCSC about rescuing a Cairn.

"Cairns are individuals with a special intelligence, attitude and sense of humor,'' said Tom and Mimi. "Now that we've lived with Angus we find that his absence leaves a hole only another Cairn can fill.''

No dog can ever truly replace such a special friend, but now they have adopted a new Cairn, Broady. Here is what they have to say about the new family member.
"Broady is open, happy, warm, active and funny. A real pleasure to know.''

Like many rescue dogs, Broady is wary of strange men, but they are working to get him acclimated to his new life and he is happy with his new family.

"We're hitting it off every way."
